Carbon Services and Trading Ecosystem

Situated at the heart of Southeast Asia and global carbon trade flows, Singapore is located near growing demand for carbon services and supply of climate mitigation projects.

Singapore is home to more than 120 carbon services and trading firms, comprising service providers in carbon origination, advisory, and trading such as The Nature Conservancy, Sylvera, Vertree and Freepoint.

We are home to regional initiatives such as the Southeast Asia Climate and Nature based solutions (SceNe) coalition of 8 NGOs to develop NbS best practices and tools. IETA and EDB recently established the Singapore Carbon Market Alliance (SCMA) to scale up availability and trade of high-quality Article 6 carbon credits. MAS established the Singapore Sustainable Finance Association (SSFA), an industry body supporting the growth of Singapore as a sustainable finance centre including for carbon markets. In Nov 2024, EnterpriseSG and NTU launched the NTU Carbon Markets Academy which will deliver carbon management education and Asia-focused research for the region.

Singapore is pursuing Article 6.2 partnerships with over 20 countries, with Implementation Agreements (IA) signed with Ghana and Papua New Guinea.
