BackSustainable Air Transport
The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has launched the Singapore Sustainable Air Hub Blueprint, which serves as Singapore’s action plan for the decarbonisation of its aviation sector.
It sets out Singapore’s medium-term and long-term targets and concrete steps that CAAS and aviation stakeholders will undertake across the airport, airline and air traffic management domains.
CAAS will work with aviation stakeholders to reduce domestic aviation emissions from airport operations by 20% from 2019 levels in 2030 and achieve net zero domestic and international aviation emissions by 2050. The use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) will also be required for flights departing Singapore from 2026. Singapore will aim for a 1% target for a start, and the goal is to raise this to 3% and then 5% by 2030, subject to global developments and the wider availability and adoption of SAF.
As a major aviation hub, Singapore continues to actively support the efforts led by the International Civil Aviation Organisation to reduce international transport emissions.
