Green Skills Development

Singapore is supporting workers to upskill and reskill to take on new or transformed roles in the low-carbon future.

Green Skills Committee

The Ministry of Trade & Industry and SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) have set up the Green Skills Committee (GSC) to bring together industry leaders and training providers to drive Singapore's efforts in developing the green skills and training programmes required.

The GSC will identify green jobs and skills, and guide the development of training programmes to ensure better pacing of the training of workers with job opportunities, starting with two areas that will be in high demand in the immediate and near term: "Sustainability Reporting and Assurance" to support companies looking to provide greater transparency and assurance on their ESG efforts, and "Energy" to support Singapore's shift towards renewable energy.

Training Programmes

In addition, there is a wide range of training programmes offered today. These include more than 250 sustainability-related Continuing Education and Training (CET) courses offered by institutes of higher learning on topics such as carbon management, sustainable built environment, green finance and clean energy. They also offer full-time Pre-Employment Training programmes related to environmental sustainability.

Workforce Singapore (WSG) offers the Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for Sustainability Professionals to support the reskilling of workers to take on business functions such as carbon management and sustainability reporting.

SSG's SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme supports mid-career individuals in acquiring industry-relevant green skills. Participants may enrol in CET courses such as Smart and Sustainable Facilities Management and Sustainable Urban Development.
