Newport Plaza: Singapore's First BCA Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy Integrated Development
City Developments Limited's (CDL) Newport Plaza, Singapore’s first BCA Green Mark Platinum Super Low Energy integrated development, achieved certification for its residential, serviced apartments, office and retail components.As the first development along Anson Road to adopt district cooling, it reduces approximately 100 tonnes of CO2 annually. The biophilic design incorporates 3,469m² of softscape for cooling and comfort, while a rooftop solar PV system meets 30% of the residential common area energy needs.
With flood mitigation at a 4m platform level, the development also achieves 60% energy savings above the 2005 building code, reducing costs by around S$450,000 annually.

Youth4Climate Festival 2024
Since 2018, this is City Developments Limited's (CDL) flagship programme supporting youth empowerment and the UNSDGs. CDL partnered with the People's Association for this year’s festival at Bedok@Heartbeat, reaching out to the wider community at the grassroot level.Held in support of the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment’s Go Green SG movement, the event, opened by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, promoted climate action. It featured a youth-led concert, an Eco Marketplace and workshops on sustainable fashion, food security and mental well-being.
The festival wrapped up with screenings of two environmental-related movies, Zootopia and Big Hero 6, to inspire youth and the public to care for the environment.

Zero-energy CDL Green Gallery Climate Action Exhibitions
Opened in 2013 by then Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, the CDL Green Gallery is Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region's first zero-energy gallery, dedicated to climate education and advocacy on major climate and nature issues.Offering free admission to the public, the gallery has hosted 21 exhibitions and drawn over 386,000 local and foreign visitors. CDL has curated four major exhibitions, including the Melting Ice, Sinking Cities exhibition in 2023, which was launched in response to a knowledge gap among the public regarding climate change, melting glaciers, rising sea levels and their impacts.
These exhibitions aimed to raise awareness and highlight the urgency of conserving our planet and climate action.

Zero-energy Singapore Sustainability Academy and Annex
Developed by City Developments Limited (CDL) in 2017, the Singapore Sustainability Academy (SSA) is Singapore's first zero-energy facility dedicated to climate action and capacity building. In collaboration with six government agencies and 15 industry and NGO partners, it advances the UNSDGs, climate goals and Singapore Green Plan 2030.As of June 2024, SSA hosted over 1,060 sustainability programmes, engaging 36,500 participants. To meet increasing networking demands, the SSA Annex was opened in July 2024 by Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat. The facilities offer rent-free space for advocacy and capacity-building, partnering with UN Global Compact Network Singapore and the Sustainable Energy Association Singapore.
