Moving beyond the Beach Clean Up: Recovery of Hydrogen from Ocean Plastic - 15 Nov 2022

Between 2000 and 2019, plastic production worldwide doubled, reaching 460 million metric tons, and only a small fraction of that gets mechanically recycled. Learn how Ocean Purpose Project combines deep tech, nature based solutions and behaviour change as new dynamic solutions to:

• Framing the landscape of where ocean plastic in Southeast Asia comes from, key problems and challenges to tackling this issue.
• Move beyond typical awareness campaigns and beach clean ups;
• Utilise multiple science based, deep tech partnerships across industry and academia; and
• Galvanise communities as a testbed of plastic to hydrogen and seaweed as biofuel additive with regional positive energy implications.
