Coal-fired power plants (CFPPs) are the single largest power source for the Asia Pacific, accounting for more than 50% of the power mix. Further, CFPPs in the region are relatively young, with an average age of 10-15 years, compared to 30-40 years in Europe and North America.
The panel aims to uncover how the early retirement of CFPPs can be executed and scaled in the region by addressing "on-the-ground" implementation challenges at both the transaction and institution-level.
