Infusing Greenery into Our Living Environment

City in Nature

Singapore is one of the greenest cities in the world. Our City in Nature vision aims to make Singapore more liveable, sustainable and climate-resilient through the following strategies:

  1. Conserve and extend Singapore's natural capital by expanding our Nature Park Network.
  2. Intensify nature in gardens and parks, such as through habitat restoration.
  3. Restore nature into the urban landscape by e.g. implementing skyrise greenery.
  4. Strengthen connectivity between green spaces through networks of ecological corridors. etc.
  5. Enhance veterinary care and animal management by e.g. strengthening biosurveillance capabilities

This vision will be underpinned by the support and involvement of the community.

Ecological Mangrove Restoration Project

The National Parks Board (NParks) and OCBC Bank unveiled plans for the OCBC Mangrove Park in October 2022. Located at Sungei Durian on Pulau Ubin, it will be Singapore's first large-scale project to adopt the Ecological Mangrove Restoration (EMR) method to help enhance the long-term resilience of mangrove habitats and increase Singapore’s capacity for carbon storage, thereby mitigating climate change. The park is estimated to be completed in end-2026.
